OVERVIEW

Ocean Observatory data available soon

BCSS has capability via a new set of models, in situ data, and API work to collect up to 500 variables simultaneously at any given GPS around the world, including any GPS nearby BCSS on land, ocean – anywhere.

The table below summarises some weather and ocean parameters that BCSS couples with in situ surveys (observation, seawater sampling, diving, boat, satellite, analytics).  Many other parameters can be compiled upon request.

Ocean Observatory data available soon

BCSS possesses advanced capabilities through a new suite of models, in situ data collection, and API integrations – allowing for the simultaneous collection of up to 500 weather/ocean variables at any given GPS location worldwide. This includes locations on land or in the ocean, in the vicinity of BCSS or elsewhere globally.

The table below provides an example (summary) of various weather and oceanic parameters that BCSS integrates with in situ surveys, including observations, seawater sampling, diving surveys, boat surveys, satellite data, and analytical results. Upon request, numerous additional parameters can also be compiled and analyzed.

Continuous data collection

BCSS will process the data obtained with a comprehensive approach, including calibration and integration techniques. This involves leveraging a variety of sources, including but not limited to 110 mixed model outputs and the closest in situ approximations. The data collection methods encompass a wide range of in situ surveys, such as observations, seawater sampling, diving expeditions, boat surveys, satellite data acquisition, and analytical chemistry. BCSS will maintain its open data-source policy on data products around the Bazaruto Archipelago.

The brochure showcases over six years of dedicated work in and around the iconic Bazaruto seascape spanning 1,430 square kilometres across five islands.

Key highlights of the brochure include:

  • Four research themes with continuous sampling;
  • Five years of monitoring data displaying recorded wildlife per taxa, with conservation status indicators;
  • Number of samples collected to date;
  • Visualised data and insights into the marine debris project;
  • Testimonies from our scientific training programmes participants; and
  • Details on our research logistics facilities;

BCSS Research Themes
